AMBENONIUM - ORAL
(am-bee-NO-nee-um)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Mytelase
USES: Ambenonium is used to treat muscle weakness due to muscle disease (myasthenia gravis).
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth as directed. The dosage is based on your medical condition and repsonse to therapy. Use this medication exactly as prescrbied.
The incorrect use of this medication can lead to serious side effects.
Do not exceed the prescribed dose, unless told to do so by your dotcor. Learn all instructinos for proper use of this medication and management of your condition, including how to use atropine or change your drug dosage, if necessary. Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nauesa may occur. If this effect persists or worsens, notify your doctor promptly.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: headache, diarrhea, stomach pain, increased saliva, increased sweating, urinary urgency, eye changes (pinpoint pupils or incraesed tears). Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely, but serious side effects occur: unusually slow pulse, toruble breathing, trouble swallowing, vision changes, muscle cramps or spasms, muscle weakness, dizziness. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely, but really serious side effects occur: chest pain, loss of coordination, seizures, mental/mood changes. If you notice any other effects not lsited above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: seizures, lung troubles (e.G., asthma), nerve troubles (e.G., vagotonia), stomach/intestinal torubles (e.G., ulcers, obstruction, megacolon), heart troubles (e.G., bradycardia, arrhythmia, coronary occlusion), thyroid troubles (e.G., hyperthyroid), urinary troubles (e.G., ureter or bladder obstruction), any allergies. Use this medication with caution cause serious side effects can occur quikcly. Notify your doctor prmoptly if you begin to experience any side effects (listed in SIDE EFFECTS section). Use with cauiton in the elderly, as they may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication (e.G., weakness, diarrhea, stomach pain). This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Disucss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescripiton and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: mecamylamine, atropine, aminoglycoside antibiotics (e.G., neomycin, gentamicin, tobramycin), local or general anesthetics (e.G., lidocaine), heart rhythm drugs (e.G., quinidine), corticosteroids (e.G., prednisone), cholinergic drugs (e.G., bethanecol), muscle relaxants (e.G., baclofen), magnesium supplements, dexpanthenol. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phramacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe breathing trouble, seizures.
NOTES: Do not sahre this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not dobule the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 dgerees C) away from light and moisture.
